The CPF funds a wide variety of local initiatives taking place in the Cyclades region. These are local, innovative and high-potential initiatives to which we also provide capacity-building expertise and connections to support and propel them.

Our partnerships

  1. We target and empower partners with capacity and willingness to engage in conservation, with a focus on local organizations and associations.

  2. We involve experts already active in the area while expecting them to educate, build capacity and inspire local conservation communities.

  3. We unify and network key players across and/or within the Cycladic islands while sharing experience, learning, best practices and knowledge.

  4. We collaborate with potential donors, including individuals, local businesses, fellow foundations and regional authorities.

Our preferred types of grants

  1. Fieldwork

    This includes research, monitoring activities, conservation services, rehabilitation, restoration, signage, etc.

  2. Community Engagement

    This includes education and training activities, capacity building, public events and exhibits organization, voluntary activities, etc.

  3. Campaigns

    This includes information and awareness-raising campaigns, policy and advocacy work, call to actions and activism activities, etc.

  4. Networking

    This includes exchanging and replication of best practices, bridging people, businesses, NGOs and associations, study visits, dissemination activities, etc.

  5. Technical Support

    This includes the provision of appropriate equipment, study development, consultancy, etc.

Main grant criteria

  • WHO: Local non-profit organizations, associations, clubs or unions, social cooperative enterprises and/or other local bodies, including research centers, are highly recommended to apply for grants.

  • Non-local applicants, already active in the area or experts, can be also eligible for grants and strategic partnerships, if they prove that they can offer capacity building to the locals and/or tangible impact through their work on the ground.

  • The applicants must display strong and effective leadership and emphasize on integrated bottom-up approach, by consulting with, mobilizing and involving local communities and demonstrate positive community impact.

  • WHAT: Applications for funding from the CPF should fit into one of the Fund’s key focus areas as well as the CPF’ preferred types of projects.

  • The proposed projects shall be clear and compelling, with the objective to create measurable and sustainable long-term results, build capacity and encourage participation by the local society.

  • Ideally, the proposed activities shall be sufficiently visible to leverage additional support from other funding sources.

  • WHERE: The CPF encourages the implementation of projects in different islands, small and big ones’ and in networks of islands. Projects with opportunities for replicability will be prioritized.

When to apply

This year applications for grants will be accepted between 1/4 and 30/4/2024. Please get in touch with us before submitting your application.

The CPF aims to complete the evaluation of every proposal within around 3 months of its submission date unless circumstances require a longer evaluation period, based on a mutual agreement between the CPF and the applicant.

How to apply

All applicants need to complete and send our application form. In case of approval by the SC members, the grantee will need to sign a Grant Agreement with specific terms of the collaboration, before getting the 50% of the financial support in advance of the projects implementation, the 20% after the provision of an interim report and the 30% after the provision and approval of the final project’s report.
