- Location: Home/remote working, available to attend team meetings and events; based in Athens/Piraeus. Regular travel required.

Role & Responsibilities
CPF is looking for an experienced marine officer who will be responsible for implementing planned activities within specific marine programs, carrying out, designing and participating in fieldwork related to community engagement (approx. 8 -12 days per month, depending on the season), and coordinating events and awareness campaigns with various target groups, including small scale fishers, across different coastal areas and islands in the Cyclades and beyond.
More specifically, the candidate must be in position to
– work closely with / engage local marine users and stakeholders, including individual fishers (Small scale predominantly), as well as professional fishers’ associations, diving centres, environmental associations, local authorities and local businesses, aiming to promote sustainable fishing practices, responsible fishing tourism, and the benefits of the creation/expansion of MPAs in Greece.
– contribute to the planning and organization of public or private events, exchange trips, educational/informative material and participatory workshops.
– ensure the successful completion of all objectives, outputs and deliverables as predefined in each program and prepare activity reports.
– oversee the accurate financial execution of the programs involved in collaboration with the head of finance.
– represent CPF at the local, national, and international levels and media for marine programs promotion.
– collaborate with the CPF team and contribute to other related activities when deemed necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Ecology, and/or Marine Sciences) and demonstrated knowledge of environmental issues, preferably regarding marine ecosystems.
- Minimum of three years of proven professional experience in environmental project management, related to marine stakeholders, including fisheries communities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to lead initiatives, follow guidelines, manage time effectively, meet deadlines and accomplish goals, with a collaborative mindset.
- Have the flexibility to travel alone or with colleagues, regularly across Greece.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging depending on the audience, and confidence in delivering presentations in written, verbal, and online formats in both Greek and English.
- Adaptability, quick learning ability, and competence in managing multiple projects while demonstrating attention to detail, and a team spirit.
- Be confident working remotely as part of a small, dynamic, creative, and growing team.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google applications.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with NGOs and familiarity with their operational environment.
- Voluntary participation in environmental activities or other related initiatives.
- A valid driver’s licence would be desirable.
- Familiarity with other software, such as GIS and statistical analysis programs.
