- Location: Home/remote working, available to attend team meetings and events; based in Athens/Piraeus or ideally on one of the Cyclades islands. Regular travel required.
- Hours: Flexible working as standard.
- Fees: Consultancy contract €18,000-20,000k per annum subject to level of skill and experience.
- Start date& Duration: April 2025. One year contract with possibility of extension.
- Line manager: Executive director. Liaising regularly with the senior management team & the scientific advisor.

Role & Responsibilities
CPF is looking for an experienced marine project officer who will be responsible for reviewing and adjusting marine strategy, implementing planned activities within specific marine programs, participating in fieldwork, and coordinating awareness campaigns with various target groups across different islands in the Cyclades.
More specifically, the candidate must be in position to
– work closely with / engage local marine users and stakeholders, including individual fishers and professional fishers’ associations, diving centres, environmental associations, authorities and local businesses, aiming to support the protection of Posidonia oceanica seagrass, as well as to promote sustainable fishing practises, responsible fishing tourism, and the benefits of the creation/expansion of MPAs in Greece.
– contribute to the planning and organization of public events, educational/informative material and participatory workshops.
– ensure the successful completion of all objectives, outputs and deliverables as predefined in each program and prepare activity reports.
– oversee the accurate financial execution of the programs in collaboration with the head of finance.
– represent CPF at the local, national, and international levels for marine programs promotion.
– collaborate with CPF team and contribute to other related activities when deemed necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline) and demonstrated knowledge of environmental issues, preferably regarding marine ecosystems.
- Minimum of five years of proven professional experience in environmental /project management, preferably related to marine ecosystems.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Have the flexibility to travel regularly.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging depending on the audience, and confidence in delivering presentations in written, verbal, and online formats in both Greek and English.
- Adaptability, quick learning ability, and competence in managing multiple projects while demonstrating attention to detail, and a team spirit.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow guidelines, lead initiatives, manage time effectively, meet deadlines and accomplish goals, with a collaborative mindset.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with NGOs and familiarity with their operational environment.
- Voluntary participation in environmental activities or other related initiatives.
- A valid driver’s licence would be desirable.
- Familiarity with other software, such as GIS and statistical analysis programs.
The Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF) is a not-for-profit Association established in late 2017 to support sustainable initiatives and to promote the preservation of the exceptional beauty and natural value of the Cyclades, Greece. The cornerstone of our mission is the empowerment of local communities, backed up by investment in the local environment and education of visitors, local businesses and residents about how they can preserve the natural environment by making the right choices when it matters the most. We raise funds from individuals, corporates, and international foundations to support conservation projects of local entities, as well as to run campaigns and educational activities.
The CPF is a member of the Conservation Collective (CC), a global network of 20 local foundations funding effective grass-roots conservation initiatives to protect the environment, restore nature and safeguard against climate change.
