“Ocean with David Attenborough” in Thessaloniki

The Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF), in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Film Festival, is organising a special screening of the internationally renowned documentary “Ocean with David Attenborough”, as part of the Revive Our Ocean initiative in Greece.

The event will take place on Sunday, March 1st, 2026, at 11am, at the Olympion Cinema in Thessaloniki, with free admission and seating by order of arrival. The screening will be in English with Greek subtitles.

A photo exhibition in the Olympion foyer will accompany the event, while the screening will be followed by a discussion on Marine Protected Areas in Greece and the role of the audiovisual sector and the media in promoting them.

The screening is also held in collaboration with the Film Office-Central Macedonia, the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center-EKKOMED, and Sea Shepherd, under the auspices of the Natural Environment and Climate Change Organization (NECCA), and National Geographic Pristine Seas. With the support of the Athina I. Martinou Foundation, the A.G. Leventis Foundation, and KONVA. The Communication sponsor is ERT.

About the film

“Ocean with David Attenborough” is a powerful message of hope for the future of the seas, presenting a century of scientific discoveries and highlighting the vital importance of the oceans for all life on Earth. The documentary reveals the unique beauty of the underwater world, but also the modern threats, from destructive fishing practices to the mass bleaching of coral reefs. At the same time, it highlights success stories from around the world, proving that nature can recover when effectively protected.

Revive Our Ocean-Greece Initiative

Revive Our Ocean is a pioneering, international initiative that will accelerate the protection of coastal and marine ecosystems worldwide, inspiring, empowering and equipping local communities to protect their seas. The vision of the Revive Our Ocean Greece initiative fully aligns with the international and national 30×30 target, seeking to effectively protect at least 30% of the seas by 2030. The initiative aims to inspire, activate and equip citizens, institutions and local communities to become active agents of change for the protection, restoration and sustainable management of the oceans and in particular the Greek seas, by enhancing awareness, participation and cooperation, for the benefit of the marine environment, social cohesion and the local economy.
