Read the compelling article by journalist Angelos Alexopoulos, who joined the Greek Islands Seagrass Alliance (GISA) journeying from Athens to Paros. He speaks with scientists and active citizens from island communities about the immense value of Posidonia and other precious marine plants.

The article challenges the distorted perception of what a “beautiful and clean” Mediterranean beach looks like, reminding us that the natural Mediterranean coastline includes Posidonia meadows that must be protected.

Having accompanied our GISA team supporting local allies in protecting our shared marine wealth, we sincerely thank TO VIMA for giving seagrass the crucial visibility it deserves!

GISA is an initiative of the Cyclades Preservation Fund in partnership with the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature, the Ionian Environment Foundation, the Argosaronic Environment Foundation, and the Aenaos Thalassa/Thalassa Foundation, supported by the Seacology Foundation.
