POSITION: GRANTS & PROGRAMS ADVISOR
- Location: home/remote working; based in Athens or ideally on one of the Aegean islands to attend meetings and events, regular travel required.
- Hours: Part-time equivalent to 75% FTE, flexible working as standard.
- Fees: Consultancy contract €19,000k – €21,000k per annum subject to level of skill and experience (one year contract with possibility of extension).
- Start date: mid-September 2024.
- Line manager: Executive Director. Liaising regularly with the CPF senior management team (Head of Finance & Operations Manager), Grantees and Project Managers.

Grants & Programs Advisor
The Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF) is a not-for-profit Association established in 2018 to support sustainable initiatives and to promote the preservation of the exceptional beauty and natural value of the Cyclades, Greece. The cornerstone of our mission is the empowerment of local communities, backed up by investment in the local environment and education of visitors, local businesses and residents about how they can preserve the natural environment by making the right choices when it matters the most. We raise funds from individuals, corporates, and international foundations to support conservation projects of local entities, as well as to run campaigns and educational activities.
The CPF is a member of the Conservation Collective (CC), a global network of 20 local foundations funding effective grass-roots conservation initiatives to protect the environment, restore nature and safeguard against climate change.
Reporting to the CPF Executive Director, the Grants & Programs Advisor will be responsible to scale up the CPF grant making and programs’ development in Aegean islands, to support the CPF grantees and other local partners with capacity building and networking, to identify opportunities for new partnerships locally and internationally, to improve how we measure and communicate the impact of our funding and programs and to use the insights internally and externally for updating our strategy and fundraising tactics. Good and comprehensive reporting with attention to details is essential for this position. Furthermore, it is crucial that this profile has strong interpersonal skills and can listen actively and develop creative solutions to the CPF team’ and local ecosystem’ needs.
Main responsibilities
Grant Making: Oversight of all aspects of the grant-making process from stakeholders’ analysis, idea exploration, local engagement, grant applications, input by Advisory Board, review process, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. Respond to CC enquiries regarding CPF grants and ensure accurate records in Salesforce.
Programs development: Identify opportunities for new partnerships, develop and submit funding proposals to EU calls, corporate partners and/or national/international Foundations, according to CPF strategic priorities. Draft sustainability plans, support projects implementation, when needed.
Impact Analysis/Reporting: Document measurable qualitative and quantitative results for CPF grants and programs and develop compelling content for CPF communication tools, strategy proposals and impact driven reports Work with/ respond to CC enquiries regarding impact. Prepare progress reports and draft minutes for quarterly Steering Committee meetings. Help developing annual reports.
Networking/External relations: Facilitate CycladoScope program by coordinating the CPF annual Islanders Forum in collaboration with CPF Comms & Engagement Officer, organising online thematic meetings and webinars aiming to offer capacity to grantees and local partners, introducing islanders to each other, support site visits. Extroversion actions to national and international audiences to make the efforts of local nonprofits and associations and CPF led programs known and heard. Representing CPF at events and conferences – both as an attendee and presenting as public speaker.
Requirements
- Have proven professional experience of at least five years in the fields of project management, coordination, funding proposals submission/monitoring/evaluation, impact assessment, reporting.
- Be fluent in English and Greek and demonstrate excellent writing and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Have experience of using data to identify trends, measure progress, assess impact, and create concise reports and analysis for a variety of audiences.
- Have strong interpersonal and networking skills, be culturally competent and sensitive to the needs and perspectives of diverse communities.
- Enjoy the challenge of redesigning initiatives and advising teams on how to achieve maximum impact.
- Be inquisitive, proactive, able to multi-task and efficiently prioritise agreed action plans to meet deadlines.
- Be competent in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willing to learn other relevant software (Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp, Salesforce etc.)
- Have the flexibility to travel regularly. A valid driver’s licence would be desirable.
- Be a self-motivated team player who thrives on setting and accomplishing goals.
