Fishermen from Greece (Santorini and Alonissos), Turkey, Cyprus, Italy and the UK came together in Lyme Bay for day one of the European Small-scale Fisheries Exchange. Knowledge and experiences were shared by groups from the five countries. Fishermen from BLUE’s Lyme Bay Fisheries and Conservation Reserve explained to their Mediterranean counterparts that improvements to port infrastructure like chiller units and ice machines have greatly improved the quality of their catch, allowing them to fetch premium prices for their sustainably caught fish.
