CPF is the in-country Greek leader for the Revive Our Ocean Collective – a growing network of best-in-class organizations in countries around the world who are leading the charge and proving that coastal marine protection works. Together, the Revive Our Ocean Collective is building a vibrant community of practice, united by a vision to restore the ocean—one coastline at a time, by those who know their waters best.

Coordinated by Dynamic Planet, with co-founding partner National Geographic Pristine Seas, Revive Our Ocean seeks to spark global change and accelerate coastal protection worldwide by inspiring, enabling, and equipping local communities to create as many new local MPAs as possible. The initiative, through best-in-class ocean conservation organizations, offers a solution to overfishing and climate change to protect 30% of the ocean by 2030.

Building on CPF’s work with local communities, including fishing associations, diving centers, municipalities, local marine businesses and environmental associations, the Revive Our Ocean Collective is an opportunity to exchange and amplify resources and best practices accelerating effective coastal marine protection, to show how creating highly protected MPAs can be a pathway for conservation and economic prosperity to go hand in hand.

Find CPF’s profile, and be inspired by the story of Amorgorama: One of the fishers-led initiatives supported by CPF through a collaborative approach with other strategic partners including the Professional Fishing Association of Amorgos, Blue Marine Foundation, and the Agricultural University of Athens.

Three Pillared Approach

Built on three pillars — Inspire, Enable, and Equip — Revive Our Ocean unites a leading collective, providing partners and local communities with the tools and resources to create and sustain effective MPAs. A combination of top-down interventions to reform policies and enable local communities, businesses, and political leaders to lead marine protection efforts, and bottom-up support to inspire and equip local groups serves communities to create effective and equitable marine protected areas of their own.

Inspire Coastal Ocean Protection

Igniting change by putting the ocean in the much-needed spotlight and inspiring local communities to protect it.

Enable Policy Reform

Supporting efforts to advance policy reform and enable clear pathways for scaling effective MPAs, working alongside local leaders, organizations, and movements to fast-track community-driven proposals.

Equip Coastal Communities

Revive Our Ocean equips coastal communities, local governments and businesses around the world with the knowledge, tools, and networks needed to establish their own MPAs, restoring the ocean and allowing financial benefits and independence.
