GRANTS
As a donor, we regularly fund a wide variety of local initiatives taking place in the Cyclades. These are innovative and high-potential ones which contribute to the Cycladic environment and cultural identity preservation. We also provide networking and cooperation opportunities to locals, and offer capacity building to key actors, empowering local initiatives to blossom.
Through our triple role within Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), we aim to support environmental conservation and sustainability efforts in the Cyclades. We encourage all potential applicants to browse through the initiatives that we have supported in the past.
Starting from 2025 and in the next rounds of grants, Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF) prioritizes projects, which
- unfold within the 5 main CPF areas of interest
- address emerging conservation issues of Cycladic islands
- create value and impact that is visible and measurable at local level with potential to be expanded to other islands
- are collaborative and will be implemented by more than one local partners
- non local entities already active in the area and/or holding significant expertise could be eligible for grants when local grassroots organisations are directly involved as their partners in the project design and implementation phases
The average grant awarded is not expected to exceed the 5.000 €, unless the project involves more than one partner, in which case the awards can reach a higher amount. CPF grant allocation: 50% in advance, 40% after the provision of an interim report and 10% after the provision and approval of the final project’s report.
In case of approval by CPF Steering Committee members, the grantee will sign a Grant Agreement with specific terms of the collaboration. CPF preserves the right to ask for additional documentation (Legal Statutes, Financial Statements etc) before approval.

Grants criteria
- Local non-profit organizations, associations, clubs or unions, social cooperative enterprises and/or other local non-profit entities, are highly recommended to apply for grants either alone or in collaboration with each other.
- Non-local applicants, already active in the area and/or holding significant expertise, can be also eligible for grants, when the proposed project involves grassroots organisations and allocates at least 20% of the budget directly to local partners.
- CPF does not direct grants to individuals and therefore cannot evaluate such individual requests.
The applicants must display strong and effective leadership and emphasize on an integrated bottom-up approach by involving local communities and demonstrating positive community impact.
Proposals should fit into one of CPF Areas of Interest and preferred types of projects:
1. Fieldwork: This type includes research, monitoring activities, conservation services, rehabilitation, restoration, signage, etc.
2. Community engagement: This type includes education and training activities, capacity building, public events and exhibitions, voluntary activities, etc.
3. Campaigns: This type includes information and awareness-raising campaigns, policy and advocacy work, calls to action and activism activities, etc.
